A career shows your progress in life normally starting since education in a specific field, but it can also refer to formal education alone.  You can have a medical career or a sports career for instance. With a career, people can regard you as an expert in your subject.

Originally the term ‘career’ concerned itself with rising within an organization or business—climbing the ranks of authority, as you will. However nowadays, career is a termed used more loosely and now includes any pursuit one has in achieving for the future. It is more common to build one’s career horizontally as well as vertically.
